Chrysler and GM have hard times

Macau News.Net
Wednesday 23rd July, 2008

US automaker Chrysler is planning the elimination of an additional 1,000 white-collar jobs by the end of September.

The struggling automaker has cited challenging economic conditions for the cuts but says it hopes to use attrition and retirements to trim its ranks.

Chrysler, which was sold by Germany's Daimler last August, currently has a total of 18,500 salaried employees in North America, Asia and Europe.

Last month, Chrysler announced that it would close permanently the company's minivan plant in St. Louis, Missouri, and eliminate a production shift at a second plant in St. Louis.

Meanwhile, with the weak U.S. auto market, General Motors has also reported slippage in sales.

GM has revealed that sales slipped 5% worldwide in the second quarter, helping Toyota beat GM in worldwide sales for the second year in a row.

The switch to smaller vehicles has been biting GM, which has been losing billions over the last three years, while Toyota has been chalking up a booming profit.

Way to go Leadership!

Way to go Investors!

Way to go Politicians!

Now that you have gotten rid of the US Technologies and the Workers that developed them, and have opened factories in far off lands, your waking up to shipping costs and tiny markets! Those workers used to be customers!

Way to go assholes that messianically supported those that now are leaving for Shanghai, Dubai, London tax havens established those Politicians you parrot so much!
