DONGGUAN, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Dongguan "Asia No. 1," a smart logistics center of China's e-commerce giant JD.com, is believed to be the largest smart warehouse in Asia.
The center covers the entire supply chain process from inbound delivery, storage, packaging, and sorting, to outbound transportation.
The construction area of 500,000 square meters is twice the size of the "Bird's Nest," the National Stadium in Beijing.
Featuring a processing capacity of 1.6 million orders a day, Dongguan "Asia No. 1" is JD's 25th smart logistics center across the country.
This gigantic warehouse can store more than 20 million medium-sized items.
Here, 78 stacking machines, each 22 meters high, and over 800 sorting conveyors can efficiently deliver parcels to logistics centers nationwide.
The center also features the large-scale use of robots and automated equipment.
The operation of the center has largely shortened delivery time and improved allocation and transshipment efficiency in south China.
As a core city in JD Logistics' business layout, Dongguan is located in the Pearl River Delta region, a major production base of home appliances, smartphones, laptops, computers, and sanitary products.
